In the Studio

A look at some of the studios that I have known.

This is the last painting I painted at my studio of 23 years in East Montpelier, VT. I invited my buddy, Jim Eaton over to record it and after we finished, I packed up my paint, brushes and painting table and cleared the studio for the new owners.

My present studio in Chelmsford, MA. I have since painted the pole bright stripes.

We then moved into a dumpy little apartment in downtown Montpelier for the summer. I had a tiny little space, but managed to finish a number of good paintings.

I have been very fortunate to have had several residencies at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. On my first visit, I painted small easel works on wood panel. While driving home I was kicking myself for not taking advantage of the large walls in the well lit studios at VSC. Upon my return, I brought a large roll of primed canvas and and started painting large gestural abstract works. When I got home, I rearranged my studio to clear a large wall for painting, and I was off to the races.
